- Additional Information
The SAFETY MUZZLE can be used in conjunction with the DOGALTER or the STOP PULL HALTER. They can be fitted over the SAFETY MUZZLE. The SAFETY MUZZLE can be extremely useful at Dog Training Classes, Veterinary Clinic, Dog Parlour, for General Exercise or in the home.
(1) Dogs should be supervised at all times when they are wearing muzzles.
(2) Great care should be taken on hot days. Dogs should not be left in direct sunlight with or without a muzzle and especially in a vehicle.
FITTING TRAINING TIPS
Over maximise the back strap to ensure it will fit. It is important that the SAFETY MUZZLE is introduced gradually and with care. The muzzle should be placed over the muzzle of the dog with the handler standing behind the dog possibly initially with someone holding a treat in front to keep the dogs attention. Close the snap fastener and tighten the adjuster strap. Continue to distract the dogs attention from the muzzle. Repeat this exercise until the dog accepts and is accustomed to the muzzle. (it is not advisable to kneel down in front of a strange dog to fit a muzzle)
The muzzle can be effectively used with either the DOGALTER or the STOP PULL HALTER when exercising on the lead and combating behavioural problems. It is important and in particular with dogs that are aggressive or anti-social that a SECONDARY SAFETY CONNECTION is used i.e. a KOMBI or ACTION COLLAR.
The SAFETY MUZZLE can be effectively used to combat AGGRESSION, DESTRUCTIVE DOGS, CHEWERS, NIBBLERS, INCESSANT BARKING and FOUL EATING HABITS subject to the safeguards above. The SAFETY MUZZLE can be snug fitting to combat AGGRESSION but may be looser or oversize for other behavioural problems.
